ProjectsTo try to achieve its objectives, which in general terms is contributing to a higher standard of living and sustainable development in Guatemala, the foundation established two general programs. All of the projects carried out by the foundation fall underneath the helm of one of these programs. Each program has its own respective fund that is meant to enable the realisation of new projects and sustaining current ones: - PRODIC (Rural Development Fund)
- PRODEI (Educational Development Fund)
Program for Intergral Comunitarian Development (PRODIC) The fundamental purpose of this program is to support deprived individuals and groups in different regions of Guatemala by carrying out projects focusing on gender equality, non-discrimination and basic human rights in the following areas: education, health, comunal organisation and environmental development. Objectives
- Support and strengthen the Guatemalan decentralisation process by inciting civil participation and involvement. It is important to increase awareness of the framework provided by the government, the juridical trilogy: Decentralisation Law, Bill No.14-2002; Law of the Urban and Rural Development Council, Bill No.11-2002; Municipal Code Bill No. 12-2002 and the Peace Agreements signed by the government and the Guatemalan Revolutionary Union (URG).
- Strengthen the formation of leaders and incite local comunal leaders to peacefully participate in the democratic process of the country.
- Support the governmental plans to improve reach and quality of the health services offered to the population.
- Contribute to the protection of the environment and improving the environmental situation in rural areas via the means of education, increasing awareness and conscience and giving individuals positions of resposibility.
Using this framework as a reference the foundation has promoted the development of strategies for effective and active citizenship of males and females, stregthened the comunitarian organisation and increased comunitarian participation and so achieve integral sustainable development within the targeted communities. Program for Integral Education (PRODEI)
This program contributes to satisfy the need that exists in Guatemala to improve the educational conditions in Guatemala. It also intends to create a pool of human resources willing to pursue their academic interests or professional ambitions and try to develop mental capacity and necessary abilities so that they can succeed in their ambitions. Currently individuals are often obstructed by personal, mental and social barriers which often prevent them from achieving their full potential. The foundation attempts to eliminate these barriers. Objectives
- Offer qualified professionals to the academic and professional sector.
- Promote innovative educational methodologies that can facilitate learning and inciting new ways of thinking to eliminate mental and social preconceptions that might obstruct personal development. The result of this should be motivated individuals aiming to achieve their potential and thus improve their academic and professional productivity.
- Promote a change in the Guatemalan mentality with respect to their academic and professional responsability.
- Improve the low results indices in schools that currently exists in Guatemala.
To develop this program the foundation has developed strategic alliances with CIDELESA (Center for International Comercial Logistics) and has the support of various specialised professionals.
